In other words, this tier is home to absolute beginners, or those that might not have the time to invest in such a complex game. Herald players tend to lack a basic understanding of Dota 2 , and thus may take unnecessary risks in the laning phase, fail to recognize when to fight or retreat, and may even auto-attack creeps without knowing the importance of last hitting. Many of them likewise forget what certain abilities or items even do, which can lead to incorrect responses or a lack thereof.
It takes plenty of dedication and patience emphasis on the latter to get out of Herald status, but even those in the highest tiers started somewhere. Perseverance and an eagerness to learn the game are essential for climbing out of this rank. Players in Guardian, however, tend to have a bit more experience than those in Herald, and can be seen as taking their first steps into understanding the game better. Players in this skill bracket might also be aware that last hitting rewards gold, which is of course an extremely important aspect of Dota 2 and its economy game.
What they do lack is the mechanical skill to apply their newfound knowledge, which holds them back accordingly. To compare this to traditional real-time strategy games like StarCraft , knowing many openings and build orders does not automatically mean that you will win every game; executing the build is another thing altogether.
This tier is when things start to come together for total newbies. Crusader players tend to have a sizable bank of in-game knowledge, which they can regularly pull from while playing. This is typically a result of reading up on heroes, items, abilities, and intermediate concepts online, while also practicing and applying the information to actual games. Against other Crusader players, expect them to know about the existence of Observer and Sentry Wards, which form the core of the vision game in Dota 2.

Expect them to also know about the jungle as an alternative source of gold, as well as how to itemize on specific heroes. Players in this bracket will likely have a few hundred hours of gameplay under their belts, with the game sense and mechanical skill to match. The use of non-basic consumables such as Infused Raindrops and Smoke of Deceit becomes more common as well, though infrequent. Archon players exhibit an observable improvement in mechanical skill as well. Contesting creep kills in the lane is a bit more intense here compared to the lower tiers, which separates the dedicated from those that are just here to have fun.
Intermediate concepts such as orbwalking, animation canceling, aggro pulling, and even neutral creep stacking likewise show up in this tier. This is also when the importance of balanced drafting starts to become apparent. Game Modes determines which modes you would like to queue for. Checking more game modes will increase matchmaking speed. Region determines which regional server you would like to play on.
Checking more regions will increase matchmaking speed, but may cause latency issues if the server location is far away. You can select up to 3 regions.

It is recommended that you only choose regions where the language you speak is the dominant language for that region, this is to avoid people reporting you from speaking another language this does happen. The language window allows you to select up to 2 languages. You will be matched with other players who have selected the same languages. Checking more languages will increase matchmaking speed.
If no languages are checked, you will be matched with the current language of your client. Players of roughly equal skill will be placed in the same game. Priority determines how quickly the player is matched with other players.

There are 3 types of priority: Players in low priority will not gain battle points from the match, will find games more slowly, and will only be put with other players in low priority. Low priority is a common punishment for abandonment.
IDK I think its a pretty good joke, tbh. And no, level has literally nothing to do with skill. I would be like level 80 right now if it wasn't for some 3 months I spent in lowpri. Level is only somewhat of a correlation of skill level. A lot of this is because of the same reasons for it in other games.

Some people can play this game for years and still be relatively terrible at it. There's also the genre similarity aspect, such that someone being familiar with other moba's will be better than someone who has never played one.
However, Dota2 has the unique situation of being an almost identical clone of it's former. What this does mean, is that someone, like myself, who played dota for years can jump into this game with only really an adjustment to the interface and be instantly better than most of the people at my level.
Which tends to skew the perceived balance of the game. Of course then I have to deal with double treads snipers, but such is life. Please understand that it's not only about the levels. That Robo guy played Shadow Shaman, a pusher, and we managed to get all 3 tier 1 towers first, mid game. If Furion would have participated in that push at all, even only by sending some treants we could have won. Zefar Zobacz profil Zobacz posty. It's like those who claim level people in BF3 are not good.
But if you tried a full team of people and the other team with level 50 the team would win. But I've seen similar matchmaking disasters. Sometimes you just wonder if it would be that much to ask for to be teamed up with people on the same level or same level of wins.
